Crystal and brass in a shallow round form: the antique brass frame carries clear crystal glass, with an opal white glass diffuser behind it to soften the light. It measures 30cm across and sits close against the ceiling, so the sparkle comes from the crystal rather than from any drop or chain. Two E27 lamps sit behind the diffuser.

We reach for a fitting like this in hallways, landings and bedrooms where a pendant would hang too low to be comfortable. It suits smaller dining rooms and box rooms too, and works where you want a little decoration without much height. We would fit LED candle lamps, which give the crystal something bright and small to catch. Dimming is possible with a compatible lamp and dimmer, though neither is supplied with the light.

The frame is finished in antique brass, a warm slightly aged tone that sits happily beside oak, brass door furniture and warmer paint colours. The clear crystal catches light across the face, while the opal white glass keeps the brightness even so you are not looking straight at the lamps. Dust it with a dry microfibre cloth and work gently around the crystal, which shows fingerprints more readily than the metal does; leave the household sprays under the sink, as they haze glass over time and can mark the finish. It carries a one year warranty. We stock the same flush fitting in polished chrome if brass is not your tone, and the wider range runs to a larger semi flush light for taller rooms, plus wall lights and table lamps in both finishes should you want the look repeated around a room. Lamps are not included.

How far does it hang below the ceiling?

It stands 150mm deep, with a diameter of 300mm, so it keeps well clear of head height in a hallway or a low bedroom.

Which lamps does it take?

Two E27 lamps, up to 20W each. An LED candle lamp of the C35 shape is the one we would choose. Lamps are not included.

Can I put it on a dimmer?

Yes, provided you use dimmable lamps with a compatible dimmer. No dimmer comes with the light.

Is it suitable for a bathroom?

No. It is rated IP20 and belongs in dry rooms such as bedrooms, hallways and living spaces, away from splashes and steam.

How should I clean the crystal?

Switch the light off at the wall and let it cool, then wipe the crystal and opal glass with a dry or barely damp microfibre cloth. Avoid solvents and glass sprays.

What warranty does it come with?
