Description

Clear crystal glass catches the light across a polished chrome frame, with opal white glass softening the output beneath. It is a compact piece, around 26cm wide, sitting close to the wall on a shallow projection that keeps it clear of a passing shoulder. Two candle lamps sit behind the glass, and the crystal picks their light up in small bright points rather than throwing hard glare across the room.

We reach for this one in bedrooms, a pair either side of a bed where table lamps would crowd the bedside table, and along hallways or landings where something slim is wanted at eye height. It also flatters a mirror in a dressing room, set left and right at face height. There is no switch on the body, so it works from the wall switch, and it will dim where dimmable lamps and a suitable dimmer are used. We would fit warm white LED candles behind that glass and leave them on the low side.

The chrome is brightly polished and the crystal cut to a clear, faceted pattern, so the two materials play off each other in daylight as much as when lit. For cleaning, turn the power off first and let everything cool, then take dust off the crystal and the opal glass with a clean dry cloth; a little glass cleaner on the cloth rather than sprayed at the fitting will bring the chrome back up. Keep it to dry rooms indoors, on a normal household circuit. It carries a one year warranty.
