Description

A pair of opal white glass shades sits against an antique brass backplate, each one ringed with clear faceted crystal that catches the light and throws small bright points onto the wall around it. At 26cm wide it is a compact fitting, and its shallow projection keeps it close to the wall in a space people walk through. Each shade takes a small candle lamp, and LED candle lamps are what we reach for here.

It looks best used in pairs or in a run: one either side of a bed at pillow height, or spaced along a hallway where a pendant would hang too low. The glass keeps the light soft while the crystal adds sparkle, which suits bedrooms and dressing areas as much as it does a dining room wall. There is no switch on the fitting itself, so it works from the wall switch or a circuit already in place. It will dim if you choose dimmable lamps and pair them with a suitable dimmer.

Glass, crystal and metal throughout, with the brass given an antique tone that reads warm rather than bright. A soft brush or a dry cloth over the crystal now and again keeps the facets clear, and polishes and sprays are best kept away from the plated brass. Rated to 10W per lamp, it is a fitting for dry rooms indoors and runs on a standard household supply.
