Description

The Sangamo Choice Plus is a wireless room thermostat with a separate receiver unit, communicating at 433MHz over distances up to 30m indoors. The thermostat unit mounts on any wall and runs on batteries (supplied), with a large rotary dial setting the target temperature from 5°C to 30°C and a digital LCD display showing the current room temperature.

Designed for heating control in homes and small commercial spaces, the system uses TPI (Time Proportional and Integral) control to modulate boiler operation based on how far the room temperature is from the set point. This reduces the frequency of full-burn cycles and improves heating efficiency compared to simple on/off thermostats. The receiver unit carries a 16A volt-free contact rating and connects to most UK boiler systems regardless of voltage.

The thermostat offers three operating modes: Comfort (normal setpoint), Economy (reduced setpoint for when the space is unoccupied), and manual ON/OFF. A frost protection mode prevents the temperature falling below 5°C if the system is left unattended. The electronic sensor provides faster response to temperature changes than mechanical bi-metal thermostats, and the battery-powered design means no mains wiring is needed at the thermostat location.
