Description

A compact outdoor light in black, roughly 90mm across, with a head that tilts so you can aim the beam rather than accept whatever it gives. The GX53 LED lamp is supplied and it is replaceable, so the fitting outlives the light source rather than being thrown away with it. Its 12W output lands in the cool white part of the scale at 4000K, a clean, slightly bright light that reads crisply against dark paintwork and stone. It dims too, with a compatible dimmer bought separately.

Sealed against rain and dust, it is happy on an exposed wall, a porch ceiling, a garage return or the run of brick beside a back door. The tilting head makes it useful for grazing light down a wall, picking out a house number, or throwing a pool of light onto steps where a lantern would only glare. We like it in pairs flanking a door, and we would use it indoors as well in a shower room or a utility, where the cool white keeps things looking tidy. Anyone after quiet, functional exterior light rather than a decorative fixture will get on with it.

The body is a single small block in black, unfussy enough to disappear on a dark facade and read as deliberate on a pale one. Keep it working by cutting the power, waiting for it to go cold, then wiping the housing and lens with a cloth wrung out in warm water; brush away leaves, cobwebs and grit that gather round the rim over winter. It carries a two year warranty. We stock the range in white, dark grey and rust brown as well as this black, and in warmer colour temperatures if you want something softer for a seating area.
