Description

A small adjustable spot with a tilting head, this one gives a soft pool of ambient light rather than a hard beam. The body is a squat cylinder in black, barely 90mm across, so it sits close and quietly against a wall or a ceiling. Light comes from a replaceable GX53 LED, supplied with the fitting, giving a warm white at 2700K. It dims where a compatible dimmer is on the circuit, which takes it from full output down to something gentler once the evening settles.

Sealed against rain and dust, it earns its keep beside a front door, along a garden wall, under a porch roof or above a step. The same sealing suits it to bathrooms and shower rooms, and to covered terraces and garden rooms where the weather still finds its way in. We reach for it when a shaded wall light would look too domestic outdoors and a floodlight would be far too much. Because the head swivels, the light can be angled onto brickwork, a planted bed or a doorway, so a run of them can each be set differently rather than all staring straight ahead.

Aluminium throughout, finished in black with a fine matt surface that holds up to weather and keeps glare off the metal itself. Keep it clean by switching the light off first, then lifting dirt with a damp cloth; no detergents, and no pressure washer near it. It carries a two year warranty. The replaceable LED means the fitting need not be scrapped when the light eventually fades, which is one reason we favour it over sealed outdoor spots. A pair either side of a door reads neatly, and it works just as well tucked into a soffit where a larger fitting would crowd the space.
