Description

The Sal Large is a 535mm matt black table lamp with a cylindrical GU10 head mounted on a curved arm above a round weighted base. The head tilts on its joint, allowing the light to be directed onto a desk surface, bedside book, or up onto a wall as accent lighting. The single GU10 socket accepts standard mains-voltage LED or halogen bulbs up to 50W (sold separately).

Designed as directional task lighting, the Sal suits desks, bedside tables, reading corners and sideboards where controlled light is needed without illuminating the entire room. The 180mm base diameter provides stability on surfaces without requiring a large footprint, and the 1.85kg weight keeps the lamp steady when the head is angled. The curved arm positions the light source forward of the base, reducing shadows when the lamp sits behind a laptop or book.

The matt black finish is applied across the metal stem, arm, head and base as a single uniform surface that absorbs reflections under daylight. This makes the lamp recede visually when not lit, sitting quietly in monochrome and minimalist interiors. When paired with a warm-white GU10 bulb the matt black cylinder acts as a housing that conceals the bulb entirely, showing only the directed beam of light. The arm and base are steel; the head is aluminium.

The Sal takes a standard GU10 mains-voltage bulb up to 50W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a 5-7W warm-white LED GU10 bulb at 2700K-3000K for task lighting.

Can the head be adjusted?

Yes. The cylindrical head tilts on a joint, allowing you to angle the light onto a desk, book, or up onto a wall. The arm itself is fixed in position relative to the base.

Is it dimmable?

No. The lamp does not have an integrated dimming mechanism. However, if you use a dimmable GU10 LED bulb you can control brightness via a separately-purchased inline dimmer or smart bulb control.

What's the footprint on a desk or bedside table?

The round base is 180mm in diameter, taking up approximately the same surface area as a standard mug or small plant pot. The curved arm positions the head forward by about 140mm from the centre of the base.
