Description

The Maytoni DL058 is a 12W trimless recessed downlight with a black reflector and integrated 3000K warm white LED. The trimless design allows the fitting to be plastered over so that only the 74mm aperture remains visible once installed, creating a flush ceiling plane with no projecting bezel or trim ring. The black reflector provides contrast against white ceilings and reduces glare by recessing the light source deeper into the ceiling void.

Designed for residential and commercial installations where clean ceiling lines are required, the downlight suits living rooms, bedrooms, hallways, retail and hospitality interiors. The 115mm cutout diameter and 60mm installation depth fit standard ceiling joists and plasterboard constructions. The plaster-in mounting brackets allow the fitting to be set during first-fix wiring and then finished with skim plaster around the aperture edge once the ceiling is boarded, leaving no visible fixing hardware.

The 12W LED produces approximately 900-1000 lumens at 3000K, providing warm ambient light comparable to a 75W halogen downlight but drawing a fraction of the power. The aluminium heat sink visible in the upper housing dissipates heat from the LED module, maintaining stable output and extending the typical LED lifespan to 25,000-30,000 hours. The IP20 rating limits the fitting to dry indoor areas only.

The black finish on the reflector and visible aperture ring absorbs ceiling reflections, making the downlight less visually prominent when switched off compared to white or metallic trims. The deep-set reflector reduces direct view of the LED chip, cutting glare for occupants looking up at the ceiling from seated or standing positions.

Dimmability depends on the specific LED driver included with the Maytoni DL058. Most integrated LED downlights require a compatible trailing-edge LED dimmer. Check the product manual or contact us to confirm dimmer compatibility before pairing with a dimmer switch.

What does trimless installation mean?

Trimless means the fitting has no visible bezel or trim ring projecting below the ceiling surface. The downlight is set during first-fix, then the ceiling is plastered around it, leaving only the black aperture and reflector visible once finished. This creates a flush, minimalist ceiling appearance.

What ceiling depth is required?

The fitting requires a minimum 60mm depth above the finished ceiling surface to accommodate the LED module, driver and heat sink. The 115mm cutout diameter also needs clearance from joists or other ceiling structure.

Can it be used in bathrooms?

No. The IP20 rating means the downlight is not protected against moisture ingress and must only be used in dry indoor areas. For bathroom zones, an IP44 or IP65 rated fitting is required.
