Description
This round mantel clock sets a skeleton movement inside a disc of clear K9 crystal, so the wheels and gears that drive it sit in full view at its centre. The outer edge of the crystal is cut with a ring of facets that catch the light, while the smooth inner band frames a silver dial ring marked with black Roman numerals. Black hands move over the open movement, and a small seconds dial sits just beneath the centre. It stands 15.2cm high, 15.5cm wide and 5cm deep, a size that reads clearly across a room without crowding a shelf.
We like it on a mantelpiece, as its name suggests, but it is just as much at home on a sideboard, a bookcase, a dressing table or a desk in a study. Because the crystal is clear, it sits happily with almost any colour scheme, from white and grey rooms to warmer wood and painted walls, and the silver dial ties in with chrome, nickel and other silver-toned pieces. Place it where daylight or a lamp can reach it and the faceted edge throws small flashes of light. The movement can be seen through the back as well, so it looks finished from behind, which suits a console table or an open shelf where both sides are on view.
The clock is freestanding on its flat lower edge, so it needs no wall fixing. It is battery powered and takes the AAA size (LR03, also sold as MN2400); batteries are not included, so have the right size ready. To keep the crystal bright, dust it with a soft dry cloth and lift fingerprints with a slightly damp cloth before drying it, keeping moisture away from the dial and movement. Wrapped up, it makes a thoughtful gift, and kept for yourself it brings a bright, interesting focal point to a mantelpiece.

Frequently Asked
How big is this crystal mantel clock?
It stands 15.2cm high, 15.5cm wide and 5cm deep, so it fits comfortably on a mantelpiece, shelf, sideboard or desk.
What battery does the clock take?
It runs on the AAA battery size, also known as LR03 or MN2400. Batteries are not included, so have the right size ready.
Can you see the movement working?
Yes. The skeleton movement sits open at the centre of the crystal, so its wheels and gears are on view from the front and through the back.

No, this is a freestanding mantel clock. It rests on its flat lower edge on a mantelpiece, sideboard, shelf or desk, with no fixings needed.
What does the dial look like?
The silver dial ring carries black Roman numerals, with black hands and a small seconds dial just beneath the centre of the open movement.
How should I clean the crystal?
Dust it with a soft dry cloth and remove fingerprints with a slightly damp cloth, drying it afterwards and keeping moisture away from the dial.
