Description
The Knightsbridge RJ45 network outlet provides a single CAT5e UTP data port behind a polished brass flat plate with an ultra-low 2.5mm wall projection. The socket accepts standard RJ45 network cables for wired Ethernet connections to desktops, laptops, printers, NAS drives and other networked devices, and terminates to IDC connections on the rear for Cat5e or Cat6 structured cabling runs.
Designed for home offices, study areas, media rooms and hospitality installations where wired network connections are preferred over wireless, the outlet fits a standard 35mm minimum back box depth and mounts flush to the wall surface. The flat plate design uses visible fixing screws at top and bottom rather than a screwless cover, giving a more traditional appearance that suits period properties and classical interiors. A built-in gasket between the plate and wall surface reduces dust ingress.
The polished brass finish is achieved by plating 201 stainless steel, giving a warm metallic tone that pairs with traditional brass hardware, period lighting and warm-toned woodwork. The RJ45 port includes a shutter mechanism that closes when no cable is inserted, reducing dust entry and maintaining the IP20 rating. A write-on designation label on the rear of the plate allows installers to mark the cable run or room destination during installation. The outlet is certified to BS 5733 for use in UK domestic and commercial installations.

Frequently Asked
What category of network cable does this support?
The outlet is rated for CAT5e UTP (unshielded twisted pair) cabling, which supports Gigabit Ethernet (1000BASE-T) speeds up to 1Gbps over runs up to 100 metres. It will also work with CAT6 cable, though the socket itself is specified for CAT5e performance.
What back box depth is required?
A 35mm minimum back box depth is needed. The outlet has a recessed depth of 33.1mm, leaving a small clearance for cable bends behind the termination block.
Is this a screwless plate?
No. This is a traditional flat plate design with visible fixing screws at top and bottom. Knightsbridge offers screwless versions in other ranges if a screw-free finish is preferred.
Does it include the termination tool?
Yes. A basic IDC termination tool is included in the pack for punching down the cable cores to the rear terminals. Professional installers often use their own punch-down tools for faster, more consistent terminations.
