Description

The AV:Link RJ45 modular crimp plug is an 8-position 8-contact (8P8C) connector for terminating Cat5e and Cat6 Ethernet cables. The plug houses eight copper conductors arranged in the standard RJ45 pin configuration, allowing data transmission at speeds up to 1 Gigabit/s on Cat5e or 10 Gigabit/s on Cat6 when properly crimped and tested.

Designed for bulk installations in office fit-outs, data centres, home network runs and AV system cabling, these plugs are crimped onto the prepared cable using a standard RJ45 crimping tool. The transparent polycarbonate body allows visual confirmation of wire order before crimping, reducing termination errors when wiring to T568A or T568B standards. Each plug accepts solid or stranded conductors with wire gauges between 22AWG and 26AWG.

The copper conductors inside the plug provide better signal integrity than cheaper alternatives that use copper-clad aluminium or steel, particularly on longer cable runs above 20 metres where resistance becomes a factor. The plug body is rated for 1,000+ insertion cycles, making it suitable for patch leads that are plugged and unplugged frequently as well as permanent fixed terminations behind wall plates.

Sold in bulk packs, these plugs suit contractors and installers working on multi-drop Ethernet installations where dozens or hundreds of terminations are needed. The bulk packaging reduces per-unit cost compared to buying retail blister packs while maintaining the same component quality.

Frequently Asked

What cable types do these plugs fit?

These RJ45 plugs are compatible with Cat5e and Cat6 Ethernet cables using solid or stranded conductors between 22AWG and 26AWG. They are not designed for Cat6a or Cat7 cables, which typically require shielded plugs with larger bodies.

Do I need a special crimping tool?

Yes. You need a standard RJ45 crimping tool to compress the plug's contacts onto the cable conductors. The crimp creates the electrical connection and mechanically secures the plug to the cable jacket.

Can these be used for telephone wiring?

RJ45 8P8C plugs can be used for telephone applications that require more than the standard 6P4C configuration, but most residential phone systems use the smaller RJ11 plug. Check your specific telephony equipment requirements before ordering.

How many plugs are in a bulk pack?

Bulk pack quantities vary by supplier batch. Contact us to confirm the current pack size and per-unit pricing for the quantity you need.
