Regents Park Outdoor Wall Light - Aged Brass

The Regents Park is a 350mm outdoor wall light built from hand-crafted solid brass with an aged brass finish, clear bevelled glass panels, and a decorative pierced gallery running top and bottom. The lantern houses a single E27 bulb fitting (sold separately) behind glass on three sides, with a solid brass back plate mounting the fixture to the wall. An IP44 rating protects against rain and moisture ingress, making the light suitable for covered porches, front doors, and garden walls in exposed UK weather.

Designed for townhouses, period properties and country homes needing historically-informed exterior lighting, the Regents Park references pre-Georgian lantern patterns with a pagoda-style roof cap and ball finials at the corners. The 100mm projection from the wall keeps the lantern clear of render and brickwork, while the 185mm width sits comfortably beside a standard 900mm front door without dominating the facade. The fixture pairs well with Victorian, Edwardian and Georgian architecture, though its proportions also suit contemporary builds looking for traditional accent lighting.

The aged brass finish is lacquered on installation to slow further patination, though outdoor exposure will gradually darken the metal over years of use. The pierced gallery detail at top and bottom casts decorative shadows onto the wall when lit, adding depth to the light pattern. The solid brass construction weighs approximately 1.8kg once assembled, requiring secure fixing into masonry or timber framing rather than lightweight cladding.

What bulb does it take and is it included?

The Regents Park takes a standard E27 bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED filament bulb between 4-8W and 2200K-2700K to mimic traditional gas lighting.

Can it be used in fully exposed locations?

The IP44 rating protects against rain and splashing from any direction, making it suitable for covered porches, front doors under eaves, and garden walls. For fully exposed positions with no overhead shelter, consider positioning where driving rain is less likely to hit the glass panels directly, as prolonged exposure may eventually affect the internal components.

Will the brass continue to age over time?

Yes. The aged brass finish is lacquered to slow patination, but outdoor exposure will gradually darken and weather the metal over years of use. This is characteristic of solid brass outdoor lighting and is considered part of the material's appeal in period property contexts.

What fixings are needed for installation?

The lantern weighs approximately 1.8kg once assembled and requires secure fixing into masonry (using wall plugs and screws) or timber framing. Lightweight cladding or render-only surfaces will not provide adequate support without additional backing.
