Description

The Reels is a flush ceiling light with a 35cm ribbed smoked glass globe set into a matt black metal canopy that sits flat against the ceiling. The glass is formed with horizontal ribbed grooves running around the sphere, creating a ridged texture that refracts light into soft bands across the surface when the bulb is lit. A single E27 fitting inside the globe accepts bulbs up to 60W.

Designed for rooms with standard or lower ceiling heights from 2.4m upwards, the Reels sits just 28cm below the ceiling, making it suitable for hallways, bedrooms, bathrooms (IP20 rating — dry zones only) and kitchens where a pendant would hang too low. The smoked glass reduces glare from the bulb while maintaining enough translucency to cast ambient light across the ceiling and down into the room. The black canopy hides the ceiling rose and wiring.

The ribbed relief on the glass adds visual depth when viewed from the side, turning what would otherwise be a plain sphere into a textured object with defined horizontal lines. The smoked tint gives a grey-brown tone to the glass when unlit, shifting to a warmer amber-grey when a warm-white bulb is installed. The matt black finish on the canopy contrasts with the glass without the reflective sheen of gloss black, suiting industrial, mid-century and contemporary schemes.

What bulb does it take?

The Reels takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users fit a warm-white LED between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K for general room lighting.

Is it suitable for low ceilings?

Yes. The flush-mount design sits just 28cm below the ceiling, making it suitable for rooms with ceiling heights from 2.4m upwards where a pendant would hang too low or obstruct headroom.

Can it be used in bathrooms?

The IP20 rating means the Reels is suitable for dry bathroom zones only (outside zones 0, 1 and 2). It cannot be installed directly above baths, showers or within 60cm of taps or shower heads.

Is the glass removable for cleaning?

Yes. The glass globe can be removed from the canopy by releasing the retaining mechanism detailed in the product manual. Wipe the ribbed glass with a soft dry cloth to remove dust from the grooves.
