Rated IP44 for outdoor use, the Reef suits front door porches, garage entrances, rear garden walls and covered patio areas where weather resistance is needed but the fitting is not directly exposed to driving rain. The single E27 socket accepts standard LED, halogen or filament bulbs up to 60W (sold separately), giving control over light colour and intensity. The 222mm projection from the wall positions the light 200mm forward of the mounting surface, casting light both downward and outward from the porch.

The Victorian bronze finish is a darkened bronze with subtle brown undertones, achieved through chemical treatment of the cast aluminium rather than paint or powder coat. What does IP44 mean for outdoor use?

IP44 provides protection against solid objects larger than 1mm and water splashing from any direction. The Reef can be mounted on external walls under porches, eaves or covered patios, but should not be installed in positions fully exposed to driving rain or where water can pool inside the lantern head.

What bulb is recommended?

The E27 socket accepts any standard screw-fit bulb up to 60W. Most users pair this with a 6-10W LED bulb in warm white (2700K-3000K) to provide porch lighting without excessive brightness. The frosted glass diffuses the bulb outline, so filament-style LED bulbs work well if you want the vintage bulb appearance when lit.

Can it be mounted upside down?

No. The lantern head is designed to mount with the glass capsule extending downward from the backplate. Mounting upside down would allow water to collect inside the glass and would not be covered under the 3-year guarantee.

What wall fixings are needed?

The backplate has two fixing points. For brick or masonry walls, use M6 or M8 expanding wall anchors with matching screws. For timber cladding, use wood screws into the timber frame behind. A minimum 50mm depth is needed behind the wall surface to route the mains cable and accommodate the mounting hardware.
