Description
The Rectory is a single-light wall fitting hand-forged from wrought iron in a matt black finish, featuring a diamond-shaped backplate with raised ornamental detailing, decorative scrollwork arm, and a candle-cup holder with drip tray. The fitting takes one E14 candle bulb (sold separately) in a cream resin sleeve designed to resemble a wax pillar. The forged iron construction gives each piece slight variations in the scrollwork and surface texture.
Designed for hallways, alcoves, dining rooms and period-style interiors where a traditional candle-sconce aesthetic is wanted without the maintenance of real flame, the Rectory sits 170mm out from the wall and measures 110mm square at the backplate. The compact scale suits narrower passages and smaller wall sections where a larger multi-arm fitting would dominate. The single-arm design also allows multiple Rectory fittings to be spaced along a corridor or either side of a doorway without visual clutter.
The wrought iron is finished in a low-sheen black that shows the hammer marks and forging texture from the manufacturing process, giving the fitting a hand-crafted character rather than a machine-smooth surface. The scrollwork curves are asymmetric by design, reflecting traditional blacksmithing methods where each scroll is shaped individually rather than die-stamped. The black finish pairs with oak beams, exposed brick, stone walls and darker wood furniture common in Tudor, Gothic and Arts & Crafts interiors.

Frequently Asked
What bulb does it take?
The Rectory takes a single E14 small Edison screw candle bulb up to 60W. Most users pair this with a 4-6W LED candle bulb in warm white (2700K) or a flame-effect LED for a flickering candle appearance. Bulbs are sold separately.
Is the cream candle sleeve removable?
The cream resin sleeve sits in the drip-tray holder and is part of the decorative design. The E14 bulb fits inside the sleeve, so the sleeve itself is not removed during normal bulb changes.
Can it be used in bathrooms?
The Rectory carries no IP rating and is designed for dry interior use only. It is not suitable for bathrooms, outdoor porches or any location where moisture is present.
Does each fitting look identical?
No. The wrought iron is hand-forged, so the scrollwork curves and surface hammer marks vary slightly between individual pieces. This is a feature of traditional blacksmithing methods, not a defect.
