Description
The Ravenstead large inverted pendant holds a 450mm bowl of densely worked Tiffany-style leaded glass, set open side up so the ceiling takes the light first. At 4.4kg it is a substantial fitting for its width, and the drop adjusts between 600mm and 1000mm so you can place it precisely. Three E27 lampholders sit inside the bowl, each taking an LED bulb of up to 10W. Bulbs are not included, leaving the choice of colour temperature and output to you and the room.
Upward light is the reason to choose a fitting like this. Over a dining table it keeps faces evenly lit with no glare in the eyeline, and in a sitting room it lifts the ceiling and softens the corners. The 450mm bowl works across most medium and larger rooms, and the multicoloured glass gives a period house the depth of colour it suits while offering a plainer modern room its one piece of pattern. It is rated IP20, so it belongs in dry indoor spaces.
The shade is made up of many small pieces of coloured glass set into soldered metal seams and carried on a metal frame, which accounts for both the weight and the way the tone changes as daylight moves. Dust with a dry soft cloth, wipe marks with a barely damp cloth and dry at once, and keep sprays and abrasive creams away from the seams. It is a Class 1 fitting requiring an earthed supply, and it dims with a compatible dimmer switch and dimmable bulbs. A Ravenstead floor lamp and a Ravenstead table lamp carry the same range into the rest of the room.

Frequently Asked
What is the shade made from?
Many small pieces of coloured glass set into soldered metal seams on a metal frame, in the Tiffany-style leaded manner.
How is it cleaned?
Dust with a dry soft cloth, then lift marks with a barely damp cloth and dry straight away. Avoid sprays and abrasives.
How heavy is it, and does that matter?
It weighs 4.4kg, so it should go up on a fixing point that is sound and rated for the load.
Which bulbs does it need?
Three E27 screw-cap bulbs, up to 10W each in LED. Bulbs are not supplied.
Can it be used with a dimmer?
Yes, with a compatible dimmer switch and dimmable bulbs.
What drop should I allow?
Anywhere from 600mm to 1000mm, measured from the ceiling to the base of the shade.
