Description

The Rando is a grey metal outdoor wall light built around a vertical ribbed cylinder with an E27 bulb socket inside, rated IP54 for dust and splash protection. The ribbed metal housing measures 16cm tall and 9.5cm diameter, with vertical fluting that runs the height of the cylinder and gives directional control to the light output — most of the beam projects upward and downward along the wall rather than forward into space.

Designed for wall mounting on external facades, porch sides, and garden walls where upward and downward wash lighting is needed, the Rando suits modern, industrial and contemporary builds. The grey powder-coated metal finish resists UV degradation and weathering. The 60W maximum rating allows use with standard E27 LED or filament bulbs (sold separately), giving control over colour temperature and brightness. The IP54 rating means the fitting resists dust ingress and splashing water from any direction, making it suitable for covered porches, wall positions under eaves, and exterior walls where direct rainfall is minimal.

The ribbed design reduces glare from the bulb by confining the light beam to vertical channels, avoiding direct views of the light source when the fitting is mounted at head height or above. The bracket extends approximately 10cm from the wall, creating a shadow gap between the wall surface and the back of the cylinder. The grey finish sits between mid-grey and charcoal, pairing comfortably with both warm and cool-toned render, brick, timber cladding and painted masonry.

The IP54 rating protects against dust and splashing water from any direction, making it suitable for covered porches, walls under eaves, and positions where direct rainfall is minimal. It is not rated for full immersion or continuous direct rain exposure.

What bulb does it take?

The Rando takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED bulb between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K for outdoor ambient lighting.

Does it cast light upward and downward?

Yes. The vertical ribbed cylinder directs most of the light beam upward and downward along the wall surface rather than forward. This creates wash lighting on the wall above and below the fitting, with minimal forward spill.

How is it installed?

The fitting mounts to a standard outdoor junction box using the rear wall bracket. The bracket extends approximately 10cm from the wall. Electrical connection should be made by a qualified electrician in accordance with local wiring regulations.
