Description
The Quasar is an outdoor wall light with a conical anthracite-finished shade and a die-cast aluminium backplate, housing a single GU10 bulb fitting behind sandblasted tempered glass. The shade tilts downward at approximately 30 degrees from the horizontal, directing light towards the ground or pathway rather than spreading it widely across a wall.
Designed for sheltered outdoor locations such as covered porches, verandas, patio overhangs and garden walls beneath eaves, the Quasar carries an IP43 rating that protects against solid objects larger than 1mm and light water spray from any direction. This makes it suitable for areas that are not directly exposed to heavy rain or hose washing. The GU10 fitting accepts standard mains-voltage LED or halogen bulbs up to the fitting's maximum wattage (sold separately), allowing control over brightness and colour temperature depending on the bulb selected.
The die-cast aluminium construction provides structural rigidity and corrosion resistance, while the powder-coated anthracite finish is darker than standard grey — closer to charcoal — which pairs well with contemporary rendered walls, dark timber cladding and industrial-style exteriors. The sandblasted glass diffuser softens the edge of the beam without significantly reducing light output, preventing harsh glare when the fitting is viewed from below or at eye level. At 115mm wide and 95mm projection, the Quasar mounts flush to the wall without requiring significant clearance behind, making it suitable for installation close to door frames or window reveals.

Frequently Asked
Can the Quasar be used in fully exposed outdoor locations?
The IP43 rating provides protection against light water spray but not direct heavy rain or pressure washing. The fitting is best installed under eaves, porch overhangs, or other sheltered positions where it is not directly exposed to driving rain.
What GU10 bulb should I use?
The fitting accepts any standard mains-voltage GU10 bulb. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED GU10 between 4-6W and 2700K-3000K for pathway and entrance lighting. Check the Specification tab for the maximum wattage rating.
Is the light directional or does it spread wide?
The conical shade tilts downward, directing light towards the ground or pathway in a focused beam rather than spreading it widely across the wall. This makes it more suitable for task lighting (illuminating steps, paths, door approaches) than for washing large wall areas.
Can it be installed upside down to direct light upwards?
The fitting is designed to be mounted with the shade angled downward. Mounting it upside down would direct water into the fitting aperture and compromise the IP43 protection, which is not recommended.
