Description

The QTX SG300 is a shotgun microphone built for directional recording, whether you are working on camera or capturing dialogue in the field. It houses its battery inside the body, so you can run it from a single 1.5V AA cell without needing external phantom power. That keeps the setup simple and means you can get going quickly, whatever your kit.

A 3-way switch on the body lets you choose between off, cardioid and hypercardioid polar patterns. Cardioid gives you a wider pickup area, while hypercardioid tightens the focus for cutting through background noise and picking up sound directly in front of the mic. The frequency response runs from 50Hz to 18kHz with a sensitivity of -40dB (±2dB), so it handles speech and general recording work well. Connection is through an integral XLRM connector (called an XLR male in the US), and a lead is supplied so you can plug straight in.

In the box you get everything needed to start recording. The SG300 comes with a hot-shoe camera mount, a clip, a lead and a foam windshield to reduce wind noise and plosives when you are working outdoors.
