Description

This QTX multicore adaptor system lets you send up to four channels of DMX down a single shielded network cable. Used as a matched pair, one adaptor sits at each end of the run, converting between RJ45 and XLR so you can route DMX over standard CAT5, CAT6 or CAT7 cable. It suits both fixed installs and live work, where running one network cable is far tidier than laying several separate DMX lines.

Each adaptor is built into a rugged steel enclosure with multiple fixing points, so you can mount it in a way that works for your rig. The RJ45 connector uses an etherCON-style locking design to keep the network link secure under movement and tension. The XLR connectors on the cable tails are colour-coded and clearly numbered, which makes identifying each of the four channels straightforward when you are patching in a hurry.

The tails are 0.5 m long and made using 110 Ω digital-grade cable, matching the specification DMX signals need for reliable transmission. This version is fitted with male XLR tails, so you would pair it with a matching female-tailed unit at the other end of the run. Note that it is designed for use with CAT5, CAT6 or CAT7 network cable only. Each unit weighs 0.436 kg and measures 42 mm x 48 mm x 550 mm including the tails.
