Description

The QTX QT18SA is an active subwoofer built around an 18-inch driver and a 1000W integral amplifier. Everything you need to add low-end weight to a PA setup sits inside the one cabinet, so there's no separate amp rack to carry or wire in. It runs from a standard 230Vac, 50Hz mains supply via an IEC connector.

We've fitted an adjustable low pass filter with a cutoff frequency that sweeps from 40 to 150Hz, letting you set where the sub takes over from your tops. Connections are handled by an XLR line in and an XLR line out, so you can loop the signal through to another cabinet or your main speakers without a splitter. An integral 35mm pole-mount is built into the top, giving you a tidy way to stack a satellite speaker directly above the sub.

The cabinet is a rugged wooden build finished in carpet covering, which stands up well to the knocks of load-in and load-out. Metal corner protectors guard the edges, and side mounted carrying handles make it easier to lift and position on your own or with a hand. It's a straightforward choice for mobile DJs, small bands and hire firms who want reliable bass without a lot of setup. Note that some suppliers list this format as an active subwoofer, while the US term is 'powered subwoofer'; both describe the same thing, an enclosure with its amplifier already inside.
