Description
The QTX QR8 is a compact passive PA speaker built around an 8-inch driver and a titanium compression driver for the higher frequencies. The enclosure is moulded from ABS, which keeps the weight down and makes the box easy to carry and position. A steel grille protects the front, and a moulded handle helps you move the cabinet between jobs without a struggle. It is designed for general sound reinforcement, so it copes well with speech, background music and small live setups.
Connections are handled by SPK sockets, and the speaker runs at 8 ohms impedance. There are multiple mounting points on the cabinet, including M8 and M6 fixings, so you can rig the boxes in various positions or array several together. A 35mm internal pole-mount (top-hat) lets you sit the QR8 on a standard speaker stand or sub-pole, giving you height for better coverage in a room.
The shockproof moulded design means the QR8 stands up to regular transport and use, whether you are running a small hall or a larger nightclub. Because the cabinets can be combined in different layouts, they suit a wide range of applications and let you scale a system up as you need more coverage. For anyone who wants a straightforward, portable passive speaker (US: passive speaker cabinet) that is quick to set up and easy to store, the QR8 is a sensible choice.

Frequently Asked
Is the QR8 active or passive?
It is a passive speaker, so it needs an external amplifier to drive it. There is no built-in amp.
What size driver does the QR8 use?
It has an 8-inch low-frequency driver paired with a titanium compression driver for the high frequencies.
Can I put the QR8 on a speaker stand?
Yes. It has a 35mm internal pole-mount top-hat, so it fits standard speaker stands and sub-poles.
What connectors does it use?
The QR8 uses SPK sockets for connection to your amplifier.
Can I mount the speakers to a wall or bracket?
Yes. The cabinet has multiple mounting points with M8 and M6 fixings, so you can rig it in various positions or array several together.
What impedance is the QR8?
It runs at 8 ohms, so pair it with an amplifier rated to work at that impedance.
