Description

These QTX passive subwoofer filters are made for use in Hi-Fi and PA loudspeaker systems. They handle the crossover work inside the enclosure, sending low frequencies to the subwoofer (sub) and keeping higher content away from it. Because they are passive, they run from the amplifier signal and need no separate power supply, which keeps wiring straightforward inside a cabinet build.

The crossover frequency is set at 120Hz, with a damping factor of 12dB per octave. That slope gives a reasonably clean roll-off, so the sub covers the low end while the rest of your speaker system takes care of the mids and highs. The filter is rated at 4 ohms and handles up to 400W, which suits it to full-size PA and Hi-Fi builds rather than small bookshelf units.

Connections are made by solder terminals, so you can wire the filter directly into your loudspeaker circuit for a secure, permanent joint. This is a component part rather than a finished product, aimed at anyone building or repairing a subwoofer enclosure. If you know your driver impedance and power handling, matching this filter is a simple job, and it gives you a fixed crossover point without having to design the network yourself.
