Description

The QTX KAD-2 is a compact Class D digital stereo amplifier built for both home and small commercial setups. It delivers up to 55W max. per side into 4 Ohms, or 25W RMS per side into 8 Ohms, which is plenty for background music and general PA duties in a modest space. The Class D design keeps things efficient and running cool, and the whole unit measures just 200 x 200 x 65mm and weighs 1.6kg, so it slots easily onto a shelf or into a rack space.

Connections cover most day to day needs. There are four selectable line inputs, three on RCA (phono) round the back and one 3.5mm stereo input on the front panel for quick access. Two 6.3mm (quarter inch) microphone inputs let you plug in mics for announcements or speech, with their own mic volume, tone and echo controls handled by rotary knobs. Speaker connections use spring clip terminals rated for 4 to 8 Ohm loads, and the amplifier ships with an IEC lead fitted with a UK plug.

Overall tone and output are set with Master Volume, Treble and Bass rotaries, so you can balance the sound to the room without hunting through menus. Line input sensitivity is 380mV and mic sensitivity is 15mV (unbalanced). Power comes from a 230Vac, 50Hz IEC supply. The black finish keeps it low key, and the mix of line and mic inputs makes it a sensible pick for a shop, cafe, bar or a home listening system where you also want to make the odd announcement.
