Description

The QTX DM11B is a handheld dynamic microphone built for vocals and general PA or recording work. It has a durable plastic body and a steel mesh windshield (also called a grille) that helps protect the capsule and reduce breath noise when you are close to the mic. At 170mm long and 50mm in diameter, it sits comfortably in the hand, and at 180g it is light enough to hold through a full set or session.

It uses a unidirectional cardioid polar pattern, so it picks up sound mainly from the front and rejects more of what comes from behind. That helps keep unwanted room noise and stage spill out of the signal, which is useful for live vocals and spoken word. The frequency response runs from 80Hz to 14kHz, with a sensitivity of -68dB (±3dB) and an impedance of 600 Ohms (±30%). A slide switch on the body lets you turn the mic on and off without going back to the mixer.

Connection is via a standard XLRM output. The DM11B comes with a lead that runs XLRF to 6.3mm mono jack (a quarter-inch jack), so you can plug straight into an amp, PA channel or interface that takes a jack input. The cable is 3.0m long, giving you room to move around a small stage or workspace. This is a straightforward, no-fuss mic for anyone who needs a reliable handheld option for gigs, presentations or home recording.

Frequently Asked

What polar pattern does the DM11B use?

It has a unidirectional cardioid pattern, picking up sound mainly from the front and rejecting more from the rear. This helps reduce room noise and feedback in live settings.

How do I connect the microphone?

The mic has an XLRM output. It is supplied with a lead that runs XLRF to a 6.3mm mono jack, so you can plug into a jack input on an amp, PA or interface.

How long is the supplied cable?

The included lead is 3.0m long, which gives enough reach for small stages, presentations or home recording setups.

Is there a way to mute the mic on the body?

Yes. There is an on/off slide switch on the body, so you can turn the mic off without reaching for the mixer.

What is the frequency response?

The DM11B has a frequency response of 80Hz to 14kHz, which suits vocals and general spoken word or PA use.

Do I need phantom power?

No. It is a dynamic microphone, so it does not require phantom power to work.
