Description

The QTX 4-pole speaker plug is a Speakon-compatible connector designed to terminate professional speaker cables in PA, live sound and installed audio systems. The plug accepts either 2-pole or 4-pole wiring configurations and mates with standard 2-pole and 4-pole Speakon-type sockets found on powered speakers, passive cabinets and amplifier outputs from most manufacturers.

Built for field assembly and on-site cable termination, the plug uses screw terminals rather than solder connections, allowing cable runs to be made up or repaired without specialist tools. The integral cable reducer grips cable diameters from 6mm to 10mm, providing strain relief once the outer casing is tightened. The locking bayonet mechanism prevents accidental disconnection during transport or performance.

The plug body measures 68mm in length and 27mm in diameter at its widest point, with a combined weight of 30g. The blue outer shell identifies the connector type at a glance in dimly-lit backline areas and cable looms. Screw terminals accept cable cores up to approximately 2.5mm² depending on conductor type and insulation thickness.

Frequently Asked

Is this compatible with Neutrik Speakon sockets?

Yes. The QTX plug follows the Speakon-compatible form factor and mates with standard Speakon and Speakon-type sockets from Neutrik, AVSL, and other manufacturers. It works with both 2-pole and 4-pole sockets.

What cable diameter does it accept?

The integral cable reducer grips outer cable diameters from 6mm to 10mm. This covers most standard 2-core and 4-core speaker cables used in live sound and installation work.

Does it require soldering?

No. The plug uses screw terminals for all conductor connections, allowing field assembly with a screwdriver. Strip approximately 5-6mm of insulation from each core, insert into the terminal block, and tighten the screw to secure.

Can it be wired for bi-amping?

Yes. In 4-pole configuration, the plug can carry separate signals for high-frequency and low-frequency drivers when connected to a bi-amped speaker cabinet with a 4-pole input socket.
