Description

The Qbic Small is a 73cm linear pendant light built around a rectangular clear glass shell, held together at each corner by polished brass brackets and suspended from the ceiling on two thin steel cables. A central tubular LED runs through the length of the housing, delivering 40W of integrated 3000K warm white light with no visible bulb to replace.

The horizontal format suits dining tables, kitchen islands and rectangular reception desks between 1.2m and 1.8m long, where a single linear fitting reads more cleanly than a row of separate pendants. At 25cm tall and 25cm deep the housing is substantial enough to register as architecture in the room rather than disappearing into the ceiling, while the clear glass keeps sightlines open across an open-plan space.

Construction pairs hardened glass panels with metal end caps and exposed brass corner fittings that double as the structural joinery holding the shell together. The brass hardware is the only colour accent on the fitting, giving it a warm metallic counterpoint against the otherwise transparent body. Twin suspension cables run from the ceiling rose to discreet anchor points on the top of the housing, and cable length is adjustable on installation to set the drop appropriate to ceiling height.

At 73cm long the Qbic Small works well above dining tables and kitchen islands roughly 1.2m to 1.8m in length. For longer surfaces, two units hung in line or the larger Qbic format give better light coverage across the full surface.

How is the drop adjusted?

The fitting hangs on two steel suspension cables from the ceiling rose. Cable length is set during installation, allowing the drop to be tailored to the ceiling height and the desired clearance above a table or worktop, typically 700-800mm above a dining surface.

Is the glass clear or frosted?

The outer shell uses clear hardened glass panels, so the internal LED tube and brass corner brackets remain visible from all sides. Light is emitted directly from the tube rather than diffused through the glass, giving a brighter and more directional output than a frosted shade would produce.
