The Provence is a single-light pendant with a wide conical shade in old bronze finish, suspended on a twisted brown fabric flex from a matching old bronze ceiling rose. The shade measures approximately 300mm diameter at its widest point, tapering to a narrow 70mm aperture at the base where a single E27 bulb fitting sits. The old bronze finish is a hand-applied patina over steel, giving a mottled charcoal-brown surface with warm undertones.

Designed for kitchen islands, dining tables and breakfast bars, the Provence works best at heights of 700-900mm above the worktop or table surface, allowing the downward light to pool on the surface below without glare at eye level when seated. The twisted fabric flex is adjustable on installation, making it simple to set the correct drop height during fitting. The wide shade aperture directs most of the light downward, making this a functional task light rather than ambient.

The conical shade profile references mid-20th-century French industrial lighting, where wide metal shades were used in workshops and factories to concentrate light onto workbenches. The old bronze patina softens the industrial form, allowing the pendant to work in both traditional kitchens with warm wood tones and more industrial-leaning interiors with exposed brick or steel. The E27 fitting accepts any standard bulb up to 60W, giving flexibility to choose the light temperature and brightness that suits the room.

The Provence takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K for dining or food prep areas.

Can the drop height be adjusted?

Yes. The twisted fabric flex is adjustable during installation, allowing the pendant to be set at the correct height above a table or worktop. For dining tables, 700-800mm above the surface is typical; for kitchen islands, 800-900mm works well.

What ceiling height is needed?

The adjustable flex means the Provence can work in most standard ceiling heights of 2.4m or above. Lower ceilings can accommodate the pendant if the flex is shortened during fitting.

Is the old bronze finish consistent across pieces?

The old bronze patina is hand-applied, so slight tonal variation between individual shades is normal. This adds to the aged, workshop character of the finish rather than detracting from it.
