Description

The Prilmarne is a 3 light ceiling light made from three fabric drum shades gathered in an overlapping cluster. Each shade is a different size, and the grey one sits a little lower than the others, which gives the fitting depth from every angle. The shades come in anthracite-brown, grey and white, each with a white diffuser across its base, so you look up at soft white discs rather than bare bulbs. The body is white steel. It measures 61cm long, 49.5cm wide and 25.5cm high. It takes three E27 bulbs of up to 60W each, and its IP20 rating settles where it goes: indoors, in dry rooms.

With three quiet neutrals in one fitting, we think it sits comfortably in a living room, a bedroom or a dining room, and it pulls together furnishings in greys, creams and browns. It mounts close to the ceiling rather than hanging on a drop, so it suits rooms where a pendant would feel low overhead. With three bulbs behind three diffusers, the light comes from three points across the ceiling rather than one, which makes it a good main light for a larger room. It still looks considered when the bulbs are not lit, because the shade colours carry the design in daylight.

The steel body holds the three fabric shades, with a white diffuser closing each shade from beneath. There is no switch on the light itself; it is switched at the wall. As a wired-in mains light, it should be installed by a qualified electrician, and the installation instructions are available as a download.
