Description

The Plons is a 60cm semi-flush ceiling light built from continuous ribbons of gold-finished aluminium that loop and intersect around a silicone diffuser panel. An integrated 34W LED at 3000K sits behind the diffuser, casting warm white light through the translucent panel and reflecting off the inner surfaces of the gold ribbons to create layered ambient illumination.

Designed for rooms with 2.4m or higher ceilings, the 24cm drop makes the Plons suitable for living rooms, dining areas and entrance halls where a traditional flush mount would look under-scaled but a full pendant would hang too low. The aluminium frame is rated IP20 for dry indoor use and the 60cm x 58cm footprint covers the typical ceiling rose while providing enough visual presence to anchor a 4m x 4m room without overwhelming smaller spaces.

The gold finish on the aluminium has a brushed satin texture that softens reflections and pairs with both warm-toned and neutral interiors. The ribbons appear to float when viewed from below, giving the fitting a sculptural quality that works as both functional lighting and a ceiling feature. The silicone diffuser prevents glare and spreads the 34W output evenly across the room, avoiding the hard shadows that bare LEDs or small shades create.

The integrated 34W LED is non-dimmable. The fitting runs at a fixed 3000K warm white output on standard 230V mains power.

What ceiling height is needed?

The 24cm drop from ceiling to base makes the Plons suitable for rooms with 2.4m or higher ceilings. It works as a semi-flush fitting where a traditional flush mount would look too small but a full pendant would hang too low.

Can the LED be replaced?

The LED is integrated into the fitting and is not user-replaceable. Maytoni rates the LED for approximately 30,000 hours of use, which equates to around 10 years at 8 hours per day.

What room size does it suit?

The 60cm footprint and 34W output work well in rooms up to approximately 16-20 square metres, such as a typical living room, dining room or large entrance hall. In smaller rooms the fitting may dominate visually.
