Description

The Plein is a 615mm table lamp built around a polished gold stem rising from a dark brown metallic square base, topped with a 320mm cream polycotton square shade lined with metallic gold. The lamp takes a single E27 bulb up to 60W (sold separately), with the gold lining inside the shade directing warm reflected light downward and outward when lit.

Designed for side tables, console tables and desks in living rooms, bedrooms and home offices, the Plein provides mid-height task and ambient lighting without blocking sightlines across furniture. The 180mm x 258mm rectangular base footprint is compact enough for narrower surfaces while providing stability for the 615mm overall height. The square shade geometry pairs well with rectilinear furniture and contemporary architectural detailing.

The contrast between the dark brown base and polished gold stem creates visual weight at floor level while keeping the upper portion lighter in tone. The gold lining visible through the cream shade fabric adds warmth to the light output compared to a standard white-lined shade. The base and stem are metal construction, and the shade frame supports the polycotton fabric without internal wire distortion visible when backlit.

Frequently Asked

What bulb does the Plein take?

The lamp takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED bulb between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K for ambient lighting on side tables or desks.

Is the shade removable for bulb changes?

Yes. The shade lifts off the lamp base to access the E27 socket for bulb replacement. The shade sits on a harp or spider fitting that allows easy removal and replacement.

What surfaces suit the base size?

The 180mm x 258mm rectangular base fits comfortably on bedside tables, console tables and desks with at least 300mm depth. The base provides stability for the 615mm height without requiring a large footprint.

Does the gold lining affect light colour?

Yes. The metallic gold lining reflects and warms the light output compared to a standard white-lined shade, adding amber tones to the light when using a neutral or warm-white bulb. This creates a warmer ambient effect in the room.
