What bulb does it take and is one included?

The lantern takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 40W. No bulb is included. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED filament bulb rated between 4-6W and 2200K-2700K to suit the traditional styling.

Can it be used in exposed locations or only under cover?

The IP44 rating means the lantern is protected against splashing water from any direction and is suitable for covered porches, doorways and passages. It is not rated for fully exposed locations subject to direct driving rain or submersion. Avoid mounting where the fitting would receive prolonged direct rainfall with no overhead protection.
