Plantation 2 Light Flush Ceiling Light - Burnished Brass

The Hinkley Plantation is a 305mm flush ceiling light built around a hemispherical bowl of spiral-cut optic glass, set within a burnished brass rim detailed with decorative beading. Two E27 bulbs inside the glass bowl (sold separately, max 60W each) cast light through the spiral-cut pattern, refracting it across the surrounding space. The 200mm projection from ceiling to underside suits rooms where a pendant drop would encroach on headroom.

Designed for hallways, bedroom ceilings, dining rooms with ceiling heights below 2.4m, and any space where a flush-mount profile is needed, the Plantation provides both ambient and decorative function. The burnished brass finish on the metal rim and base carries a warm, aged tone that sits between polished brass and antique brass, pairing comfortably with traditional interiors, coastal schemes, and warm-toned contemporary spaces. The spiral-cut optic glass references pineapple motifs common in classical metalwork.

The glass bowl sits inside a cast metal rim with raised beading detail that runs around the full circumference, giving the fitting a substantial presence despite the compact 305mm diameter. The burnished finish on the brass shows subtle tonal variation rather than a uniform shine, which softens reflections and reduces the visual contrast between the metal and glass. The flush-mount base fixes directly to a standard UK ceiling rose, with the weight of the glass and metal frame distributed across the backplate rather than hanging on a single suspension point.

What bulbs does it take?

The Plantation takes two E27 (Edison screw) bulbs, each rated up to 60W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with two warm-white LED bulbs between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K for general room lighting.

What ceiling height does it suit?

The 200mm projection from ceiling to base makes this fitting suitable for rooms with ceiling heights from 2.2m upwards, where a pendant drop would encroach on headroom. It works particularly well in hallways, bedrooms and dining rooms with lower ceilings.

How is the glass cleaned?

The optic glass bowl can be wiped with a soft microfibre cloth when the fitting is switched off and cool. For more stubborn marks, a barely-damp cloth with distilled water is acceptable. Avoid spraying cleaning products directly onto the glass or metal, as liquid can seep into the lampholder assembly.

Is it suitable for bathrooms?

The Plantation carries no IP rating for moisture protection, so it is not suitable for bathroom zones 1 or 2 where water spray is present. It can be used in a bathroom outside these zones where there is adequate ventilation, but is better suited to dry rooms like hallways, bedrooms and living spaces.
