Plantation 1 Light Pineapple Wall Lantern - Burnished Bronze IP44

The Hinkley Plantation is an outdoor wall lantern built around a pineapple-shaped glass body with diamond-faceted optic panels, topped with cast metal pineapple leaves and mounted on a scrolled burnished bronze arm. The lantern houses a single E27 bulb (sold separately, 40W maximum) behind the textured glass, which refracts light through the facets to cast patterned wash onto surrounding walls and paths.

Designed for porch lighting, entrance doorways and covered patio walls, the Plantation carries an IP44 rating making it suitable for outdoor use in sheltered positions where direct rainfall does not hit the fitting continuously. The 275mm projection from the wall and 541mm height suit typical entrance door frames and porch columns, with the scrolled arm providing standoff clearance from rendered or brick surfaces. The lantern fixes to an external wall via the backplate, which conceals the wiring entry.

The burnished bronze finish is applied to cast aluminium metalwork, giving the lantern durability against UK coastal and urban air conditions without the weight of solid brass. The finish shows as a warm, aged bronze with darker lowlights in the recessed detail and brighter highlights on raised edges. The pineapple motif — a traditional symbol of hospitality — is rendered in both the glass form and the cast metal crown, with each leaf individually detailed. The diamond-pattern optic glass softens the light output and hides the bulb filament or LED element from direct view at eye level.

What IP rating does this carry and where can it be used?

The Plantation is rated IP44, meaning it resists splashing water from any direction but is not fully weatherproof against driving rain or submersion. It suits covered porches, entrance canopies, and sheltered patio walls where the fitting is protected by an overhang. Avoid fully exposed positions with no overhead cover.

What bulb does it take?

The lantern takes a standard E27 Edison screw bulb up to 40W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED filament bulb (4-8W, 2200K-2700K) to complement the traditional styling and give a candle-like glow through the optic glass.

How is the glass cleaned?

The pineapple glass unscrews from the metal crown and base for access. Wipe the faceted panels with a damp microfibre cloth and dry thoroughly before reassembling. Avoid abrasive cleaners which can scratch the optic finish.

Can it be mounted upside-down or horizontally?

The Plantation is designed for upright wall mounting only, with the pineapple crown at the top. Inverting or tilting the fitting would compromise the IP44 seal and may allow water ingress into the electrical compartment.
