Description

Small capsule lamps have to earn their place, and this one does it on efficiency. It draws 4W and gives back 350 lumens of warm white light, sent out all round the capsule rather than thrown forward, which is what you want in a fitting that shows the lamp openly or bounces it off a shade. The clear finish keeps the look crisp and lets the light through cleanly. It dims too, provided it is paired with a dimmer suited to low LED loads, and no dimmer is supplied with it.

We keep these on the shelf mainly for people swapping out halogen capsules, which ran hot and rarely lasted. The warm tone sits close to the light people are used to from those older lamps, so a mixed set of wall lights or a small pendant will not suddenly look colder in one corner. It suits multi-lamp fittings where the count adds up quickly and every watt matters: hallway wall lights, glass pendants over a breakfast bar, a compact chandelier in a dining room, or a bedside fitting where a low setting late in the evening is the whole point.

The pins push straight into a G9 holder, and the body is slim enough to sit behind small shades and glass shrouds without pressing against them. Handle it by the capsule rather than the pins, and give it a wipe with a dry cloth only once it has cooled and the power is off; nothing wet, and no solvent near the pins. It carries a three year warranty. Ordering a spare alongside is worth doing where a fitting takes several lamps, since a matched set keeps the tone even across the whole fixture and saves hunting for the same warm white again months later.
