Description

This is a G9 capsule LED, small enough to disappear inside a modest shade and steady enough to take over from the halogen capsules it replaces. It draws 3W and gives a warm white light at 3000K, the softer end of white, nearer a filament lamp than daylight. The cover is clear, so the light stays crisp and the little emitters remain on show when the lamp sits in view. It is non-dimmable, so pair it with a plain on-off switch rather than a dimmer plate.

We reach for a capsule of this sort in wall lights, small pendants and multi-arm ceiling fittings, where several little lamps mount up and running costs begin to matter. It suits bedside lights, dressing table fittings and hallway lanterns, and works well behind clear or ribbed shades that want a point of brightness to catch. Anyone swapping out older G9 halogen capsules will find the fit and the light familiar, with a good deal less power drawn. Construction is the usual compact capsule, with a white body carrying the clear cover and the G9 pins.
