Photonix Ceiling Light - Anthracite

The Photonix is a compact 90mm diameter ceiling light with an anthracite powder-coated aluminium canopy and a matt white plastic diffuser that encloses a single E27 bulb fitting. The shallow profile sits close to the ceiling, making it suitable for rooms with ceiling heights below 2.4m where a pendant would hang too low, and for corridor and bathroom zones where headroom is limited.

Designed for general illumination in bathrooms, kitchens, hallways and bedrooms, the Photonix carries an IP44 rating for use in Zone 2 bathroom areas where occasional spray is present. The white diffuser distributes light evenly across the room rather than directing it downward, giving soft ambient coverage without glare. The compact diameter suits smaller rooms, alcoves and narrow corridors where a larger flush fitting would dominate the ceiling plane.

The anthracite finish is a dark grey-brown metallic powder coat applied to extruded aluminium, giving a neutral tone that pairs with both warm and cool interior palettes. The E27 fitting accepts any standard screw bulb up to the rated wattage, allowing control over colour temperature and brightness by bulb choice. The fitting is dimmable when paired with a compatible dimmer switch and dimmable LED bulb.

Ideal Lux manufactures the Photonix in Italy as part of a modular range that includes different finishes and sizes. The aluminium canopy and plastic diffuser construction keeps the weight low enough for plasterboard ceiling mounting with standard fixings. What does IP44 mean for bathroom installation?

IP44 provides protection against splashing water from any direction, making the Photonix suitable for Zone 2 bathroom areas (60cm or more from the edge of a bath or shower). It should not be installed directly above a bath or inside a shower enclosure, where IP65 or higher is required.

What bulb does it take?

The fitting takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a 6-10W LED bulb in 2700K-3000K warm white for general bathroom or hallway lighting.

Is it dimmable?

Yes, the fitting itself supports dimming. You will need a compatible dimmer switch and a dimmable LED bulb for full dimming functionality. Non-dimmable LED bulbs will either not dim or flicker when used with a dimmer.

How much projection from the ceiling?

The Photonix sits close to the ceiling with minimal projection, typically around 60-80mm depending on the bulb size. This low profile suits rooms with low ceilings or tight spaces where a deeper pendant or semi-flush fitting would intrude.
