Description

The Pentleigh is a large flush ceiling light, 500mm across with a 220mm projection, so it covers a good width while staying close to the plaster. The shade is multicoloured Tiffany-style leaded glass set into a metal frame, and two 60W E27 GLS bulbs light it from within. Bulbs are supplied separately. Because the glass is cut into panels and joined with lead, the light comes through as colour and the pattern stays visible when the fitting is off. It weighs 3.2kg and is a Class 1 fitting, wired with an earth.

A flush mount is the answer where a pendant would hang into the room. At 500mm the Pentleigh is wide enough to be the single ceiling light in a hallway, a landing, a bedroom or a living room with a ceiling under about 2.5 metres, and it suits loft rooms and cottages with low beams. Two bulbs give a solid level of general light for a whole room rather than a corner. It works for anyone who wants colour and pattern overhead without giving up head height.

The frame is metal and the shade is leaded glass, held so the panels take no weight. Cleaning is simple: a dry soft cloth or a soft brush for dust, a barely damp cloth for marks, then dry the lead lines. Do not use solvents, ammonia-based sprays or abrasive creams. It is rated IP20, which keeps it to dry indoor rooms. Fit dimmable bulbs and a compatible dimmer if you want to vary the level.
