Description

The Penn Station is a 330mm semi-flush ceiling light built around a clear glass bowl held in place by four curved metal straps that meet at a central brushed nickel hub. The light sits 267mm below the ceiling, making it suitable for rooms with ceiling heights of 2.3m or above where a traditional pendant would hang too low. A single E27 bulb inside the glass bowl casts light in all directions, with the clear glass providing minimal diffusion.

Designed for hallways, kitchens and bedrooms, the Penn Station works as primary or secondary lighting depending on room size and bulb choice. The semi-flush design places the fitting closer to the ceiling than a pendant but projects further than a true flush mount, giving a balance between headroom clearance and visual presence. The four-strap frame references early 20th-century industrial fixtures without the weight or scale of period originals.

The brushed nickel finish on the metalwork has a soft satin sheen that reads as cool grey-silver under daylight and pairs with chrome taps, stainless steel appliances and contemporary interiors. The clear glass bowl is approximately 250mm diameter and shows the filament or LED element of whichever bulb is fitted, so decorative filament bulbs work well if visible bulb detail is preferred over a frosted diffuser appearance.

The Penn Station takes a single E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a 6-10W LED bulb in warm white (2700K-3000K), or a decorative filament bulb where the bulb itself is visible through the clear glass.

What ceiling height is needed?

The fitting projects 267mm below the ceiling. For safe headroom clearance in a hallway or landing, ceiling heights of 2.3m or above are recommended. In kitchens or bedrooms where the fitting is not in a walkway, 2.4m ceilings work comfortably.

Is it suitable for bathrooms?

No. It has no stated IP rating, so it is for dry rooms only.

How is the glass cleaned?

The clear glass bowl can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth and a small amount of glass cleaner once the bulb is removed and the fitting is switched off at the mains. The metal straps can be dusted or wiped with a dry cloth to maintain the brushed finish.
