Penela LED Ceiling Light - Black & Gold

The Penela is a long LED ceiling light built around an open rectangular frame in black. Zigzag arms of white LED strip and gold-coloured bars run through the middle. It measures 87cm long, 15cm wide and 24cm high, so it suits a long table or a rectangular room better than a small square ceiling. The LEDs are integrated, so there is no bulb to buy or change. It draws 45W and gives 4,800 lumens of light. It is rated IP20, which means it belongs indoors in a dry room.

We would fit it over a dining table, along a kitchen island or in a living room where one central light has to do the work of several. With 4,800 lumens and dimming, it can light a room brightly for cooking or homework and then settle to a gentle glow for the evening. The colour temperature adjusts from a warm 2700K to a cool 6500K. You can choose cosy warm white at night and crisp daylight white for reading or close work. The open frame keeps it light to the eye, so a ceiling light of this length never feels heavy in the room.

The body is aluminium and steel, finished in black with gold detail. A remote control comes in the box, so brightness and colour temperature can be set from the sofa. There is no switch on the fitting itself; it is switched at the wall as normal, and the remote takes a CR2032 battery. It runs on 220-240V, 50/60Hz mains, carries energy class E and weighs 2.793kg packed. Is the Penela suitable for a bathroom?

No. It is rated IP20, so it belongs in dry indoor rooms such as a living room, dining room, bedroom or hallway, away from water.

Does it come with a remote control?

Yes, a remote control comes in the box. It takes a CR2032 battery and lets you control the light, including its colour temperature.

How bright is the light?

It gives 4,800 lumens from 45W of integrated LEDs, and because it is dimmable you can bring it down whenever you want less.

What colour temperatures can it give?
