Description

The Parish is a 2m black aluminium lamp post with a traditional lantern-style head housing a single E27 bulb fitting behind clear glass panels. The post is manufactured in the UK from die-cast aluminium with a black powder-coated finish, and the lantern head measures 230mm square at its widest point. The clear glass allows full light transmission, casting a wide pool of illumination at ground level suitable for pathways, driveways and front gardens.

Designed for residential outdoor installation, the Parish suits driveways, garden paths, courtyard entrances and front-of-house positions where traditional styling is preferred over contemporary fixtures. The IP44 rating provides protection against dust ingress and water spray from any direction, making the fitting reliable in exposed UK weather. The post bolts to a ground plate or set-in foundation (not included), with internal cable runs concealed within the hollow column.

The ribbed detail on the base and mid-section of the post gives the column architectural weight without overwhelming smaller front gardens or pathway runs. The black powder-coat finish resists UV degradation and corrosion better than gloss painted alternatives, and the aluminium construction keeps the overall weight manageable during installation while providing structural rigidity once fixed. What bulb does it take?

The Parish takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED bulb between 6-12W for pathway lighting, or a higher-lumen daylight LED for driveway security lighting.

How is it installed?

The post bolts to a ground plate or set-in foundation (not included). Cable runs internally through the hollow column from a below-ground entry point to the lantern head. Professional installation by a qualified electrician is recommended to ensure weatherproofing and safe electrical connection.

Is the IP44 rating suitable for exposed coastal locations?

IP44 provides protection against dust and water spray, which covers most UK residential outdoor applications. Coastal locations with salt spray may require additional maintenance (annual cleaning and inspection) to prolong the powder-coat finish, but the aluminium construction resists corrosion better than steel alternatives.

What's the 10-year warranty coverage?

Elstead Lighting's 10-year warranty covers manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship. It does not cover damage from incorrect installation, accidental impact, or natural wear to the powder-coat finish in extreme environments. Warranty claims are handled directly through Elstead.
