Description

The Paratebueno 2 is a linear pendant light with seventeen bird-shaped shades hanging from one long oval canopy, each on its own cord and each at a different height, so the flock seems caught mid-flight. The body is steel in a brass finish, and the shades are steel and plastic. It measures 148cm long, 26cm wide and 220cm high overall. Each bird holds its own integrated LED of 3W giving 380lm of warm white light at 3000K, so there are no separate bulbs to buy. It is rated IP20, which settles where it goes: indoors, in a dry room.

Its long, narrow shape makes it a natural partner for a dining table, where the birds hang along the length of the top and spread light from one end to the other rather than pooling it in the centre. It works over a kitchen island just as well, or in a generous hallway with a high ceiling. The warm 3000K glow is kind to faces and food, and because the light is dimmable you can bring it right down for a quieter mood once the plates are cleared. We think it is for anyone who wants a ceiling light with real character, one that guests notice the moment they sit down at the table.

Every bird is shaped from steel and plastic, and the body and canopy are steel with a brass finish, so the whole fitting reads as one warm metal. There is no switch on the light itself: it is switched at the wall, so it works from a wall switch. As a wired-in mains light, it is installed by a qualified electrician, and the installation instructions come as a download. One practical note: it weighs 22.22KG packed, so a second pair of hands is worth having when you unbox it.
