Description
A slim bar with a downward throw, this Paracuru gives a narrow band of warm light with no lamp on show. It runs 46cm across and stands proud of the wall far enough to clear a frame, with the LED and its driver built in behind the antique brass housing. The output is fixed warm white at 3000K from a modest 8W, so it sits kindly against oils, watercolours and photographs rather than bleaching them. There is no switch on the body and no dimming, so it takes its cue from whatever controls the circuit.
It is one we reach for above a painting or a framed print, where a ceiling downlight would only skim the glass and bounce a hard reflection back at you. At this length it flatters a picture of roughly its own width or a little wider, and it does just as well over a run of shelves, a hallway console table or a mirror in a dressing room. Warm white keeps skin tones and old paper looking gentle, which matters if the piece beneath is a portrait or a faded map. Low, quiet and steady light is the whole point of it.
The antique brass finish has that softened, slightly darkened tone that sits well with older frames, panelled walls and warm paint colours. To keep it looking right, run a dry duster along the top edge now and then, where dust likes to gather, and keep sprays and cream cleaners away from the brass altogether. Dry rooms indoors are its place, so we would not put it in a bathroom or an open porch. It carries a three year warranty. We stock the same fitting in polished chrome and in sand black, and in longer versions with more light behind them, which is worth a look if you have a wide canvas to cover.

Frequently Asked
How wide is the light and how far does it project?
It is 46cm wide, 145mm high and projects 195mm from the wall, which is enough to clear most frame mouldings.
Do I need to buy a lamp for it?
No. The LED is integrated, along with its driver, so there is nothing to fit or replace.
What sort of light does it give?
619 lumens of warm white at 3000K, spread over a wide 120 degree beam so the light washes down rather than spotting.
Can I dim it?
No, this one is not dimmable, and there is no switch on the fitting itself.
Will it suit a picture wider than the fitting?
It works best on a picture of similar width or a touch wider. For larger canvases we would move up to one of the longer sizes in the range.
How should I clean the brass?
A dry, soft duster is all it needs. Avoid polishes, sprays and anything abrasive, as these can mark the antique finish.
