Description

Pantoja is a cluster pendant of eight swirled glass globes, each hung on a fine cord from a black steel oval canopy. The shades are grooved glass in a mix of amber and smoke. The globes come in more than one size and drop to different heights, so the cluster falls as a loose cascade. The light is 96cm long, 50cm wide and 180cm high overall. Every globe holds an integrated LED of 5.8W giving 880lm, so there are no bulbs to buy or change. It is rated IP20, which means indoors and dry: a dining room or kitchen, never a bathroom or porch.

Over a dining table it is at its best: the oval canopy follows the line of a long table, so light falls along its whole length rather than pooling in the middle. It works just as well over a kitchen island or in an open plan living space with a high enough ceiling to give the drop room. The amber globes bring warmth while the smoke globes keep the look cooler and more restrained, so it sits comfortably with oak, grey panelling and black metal. The colour temperature runs from 2200K, a warm candlelit glow, to 6500K, a crisp daylight, and the light is dimmable, so one fitting covers a bright family breakfast and a low, warm dinner.

The body is steel in a black finish, and the grooved glass gives each globe a soft swirl that catches the light. A remote control comes in the box for dimming and changing the colour temperature. There is no switch on the fitting itself, so the light is switched at the wall. As a wired ceiling light it is installed by a qualified electrician, and the installation instructions come as a download. Packed, it weighs 11.92KG, so a second pair of hands is worth having when the box arrives.
