Description
The Orix is a 650mm alabaster table lamp built around a tapered, faceted column of natural Spanish alabaster, capped with a brushed brass collar and finial and topped by a soft white tapered drum shade. The column tapers from roughly 110mm at the base to a narrower point where the brass collar meets the shade, giving the lamp a slim vertical profile rather than a heavy block silhouette. It takes a single E27 bulb (sold separately).
Designed for bedside tables, console tables, sideboards and reading corners, the Orix combines task and accent function. The 350mm shade diameter throws useful downward light for reading at a bedside, while the alabaster column itself glows softly when the bulb is lit, acting as a secondary low-level light source. The lamp uses a standard inline cord switch and plug, so no electrician is required for installation.
Each alabaster column is cut from a natural block, so the veining, mineral lines and translucency vary between individual lamps. The faceted form catches light differently across each plane, picking up shadow lines down the column rather than presenting as a single smooth cylinder. The brushed brass collar, neck and finial soften reflections and pair with the warm tones running through most alabaster, while the soft white shade keeps the upper light diffuse rather than directional.

Frequently Asked
What bulb does the Orix take?
The lamp uses a single E27 (Edison screw) bulb, sold separately. A warm-white LED between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K works well, allowing the alabaster column to glow softly while keeping running costs low.
Does the alabaster vary between pieces?
Yes. Each column is cut from natural Spanish alabaster, so veining, tonal layers and translucency differ between individual lamps. This is a feature of the natural stone rather than a defect, and means no two Orix lamps look identical when lit.
Does the alabaster column itself light up?
The bulb sits above the column inside the shade, so the column is not internally lit. However, the warmer tones from the bulb cast down onto the brass collar and upper section of the alabaster, giving the stone a soft glow alongside the directional light from the shade.
How is the alabaster cleaned?
Alabaster is porous and softer than marble. Wipe gently with a dry, soft microfibre cloth. For more stubborn marks, a barely-damp cloth with distilled water is acceptable, but avoid soaking the stone and do not use household sprays, polishes or chemical cleaners.
