Description
The Orb is a 670mm table lamp built around a clear glass sphere held within an aged brass frame, topped with a 360mm black fabric drum shade. The glass orb sits on a circular aged brass base and is threaded through the centre by a vertical brass rod that carries the E27 lampholder and supports the shade above. Light from the bulb passes through the clear glass, creating ambient glow around the base, while the opaque black shade directs focused light downward onto the surface below.
Designed for bedside tables, side tables in living rooms, and console surfaces in hallways or entryways, the Orb provides both task and ambient light depending on the bulb chosen. The 360mm shade diameter suits table surfaces 500mm wide or larger without overhang. The lamp accepts any standard E27 bulb up to 60W (sold separately), giving control over colour temperature and brightness to match the room's use.
The aged brass finish shows subtle tonal variation and a low-lustre patina that softens reflections compared to polished brass, pairing well with warm-toned woods, dark painted walls, and interiors mixing contemporary and traditional elements. The black linen-weave shade conceals the bulb when viewed from above and provides a defined contrast against the metallic base. The combined glass sphere, brass frame and fabric shade give the lamp a balanced 2.1kg weight that sits securely on most flat surfaces without needing additional anchoring.

Frequently Asked
What bulb does the Orb take?
The lamp takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K for ambient bedside or living room lighting.
What table width does it suit?
The 360mm shade diameter works on table surfaces 500mm wide or larger. On a typical bedside table (400-500mm wide), the shade will overhang slightly but the stable base prevents tipping.
Is the aged brass finish lacquered?
Aged brass finishes from Elstead are typically sealed to prevent further oxidation and maintain the patina. The finish can be wiped with a dry microfibre cloth; avoid abrasive cleaners that would strip the patina.
Does the clear glass show fingerprints?
Yes. Clear glass shows fingerprints and dust more readily than frosted or tinted glass. Wipe the sphere occasionally with a dry microfibre cloth or a barely-damp cloth with distilled water to maintain clarity.
