Oran Surface Tilt Round Downlight - White

The Knightsbridge Oran is a 90mm diameter surface-mount downlight with a tiltable GU10 fitting housed inside a white aluminium cylinder. The lamp holder tilts through approximately 30° in any direction, allowing the light beam to be aimed at a wall, artwork, or specific task area rather than straight downward. The cylindrical body projects 115mm from the ceiling and the lamp sits recessed inside the cylinder, reducing direct glare.

Designed for spaces where recessed downlights cannot be installed due to shallow ceiling voids, solid concrete ceilings, or listed building constraints, the Oran mounts directly to the ceiling surface with rear cable entry through a central knockout. The two-piece construction screws together — a threaded base plate fixes to the ceiling, and the outer cylinder screws onto it — which simplifies initial installation and allows the outer body to be removed for relamping or redecorating without disturbing the wiring.

The white powder-coated aluminium finish pairs cleanly with white ceilings in residential, retail and hospitality interiors. The Class II double-insulated construction means no earth connection is required, and the IP20 rating suits dry indoor areas including living rooms, bedrooms, hallways, offices and retail spaces. The fitting accepts any standard GU10 bulb up to 10W (sold separately), giving control over colour temperature, beam angle and dimming depending on which GU10 you pair it with.

What bulb does it take?

The Oran takes a standard GU10 bulb up to 10W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a GU10 LED in warm white (2700K-3000K) with a beam angle between 36° and 60° depending on whether the light is for task focus or general ambient wash.

Is it dimmable?

Dimming depends entirely on the GU10 bulb you install. If you fit a dimmable GU10 LED, the fitting will dim when used with a compatible LED dimmer switch. Non-dimmable GU10 bulbs cannot be dimmed regardless of the switch.

Can it be used in bathrooms?

The IP20 rating means the Oran is not suitable for bathroom zones 1, 2 or 3 where moisture or direct water contact occurs. It can be used in a bathroom only if positioned well away from the shower, bath and basin in a dry zone with no risk of water splash.

How is the beam direction adjusted?

The GU10 lamp holder inside the cylinder tilts on a ball joint, allowing you to angle the beam up to approximately 30° off-axis in any direction. Once the bulb is installed, tilt the fitting by hand to aim the light where needed, then the friction of the joint holds it in position.
