Description

The Oran is a surface-mounted square downlight with a tiltable GU10 fitting housed inside a 90mm x 90mm black aluminium body. The fitting projects 115mm from the ceiling and accepts any standard GU10 bulb up to 10W (sold separately), with the bulb positioned behind a recessed baffle that reduces direct glare from the lamp face.

Designed for locations where recessed ceiling fittings cannot be installed due to shallow voids, concrete ceilings, or steel-framed structures, the Oran mounts directly to the ceiling surface with rear cable entry. The GU10 lamp holder tilts inside the housing, allowing the beam to be angled towards walls, artwork, or workspaces rather than pointing straight down. This makes the fitting suitable for accent lighting in galleries, retail displays, home offices, and kitchens where task light needs to be directed onto specific surfaces.

The black powder-coated aluminium housing sits flush against the ceiling with a square profile that pairs cleanly with modern and industrial interiors. The two-piece construction uses a threaded top plate that screws onto the base unit, making lamp changes straightforward without removing the entire fitting from the ceiling. The IP20 rating confirms indoor dry-location use only. Dimming capability depends on the GU10 bulb fitted — Knightsbridge offers dimmable, non-dimmable and smart-control GU10 options separately.

What bulb does it take?

The Oran takes a standard GU10 bulb up to 10W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with an LED GU10 between 4-7W, available in dimmable and non-dimmable versions from Knightsbridge.

Is it dimmable?

Dimming depends on the GU10 bulb fitted. If you use a dimmable GU10 LED, the fitting will dim when paired with a compatible trailing-edge or leading-edge dimmer. Non-dimmable GU10 bulbs will not dim.

Where is this fitting suitable for installation?

The IP20 rating confirms indoor dry-location use only. The fitting cannot be used in bathrooms (zones 1-2), outdoors, or in damp environments. It is suitable for living rooms, bedrooms, kitchens, hallways, home offices and retail spaces.

How is the light direction adjusted?

The GU10 lamp holder tilts inside the housing on a ball-joint mechanism, allowing the beam to be angled towards walls or surfaces. The adjustment is made by hand after the bulb is fitted, and the position holds under normal use without drifting.
