Description

The Oran is a 90mm diameter surface-mounted downlight in black aluminium with a tiltable GU10 lamp holder. The fitting mounts directly to the ceiling surface where recessed downlights cannot be installed due to shallow ceiling voids, solid concrete ceilings, or obstruction from joists and services. The lamp holder tilts within the housing, allowing the light beam to be directed at an angle rather than straight down.

Designed for ceilings where cutting recesses is impractical or undesirable, the Oran suits hallways, landings, concrete-slab apartments, listed buildings where ceiling cuts are restricted, and retrofit installations where existing recessed fittings have failed and the void depth no longer meets current regulations. The 115mm projection from the ceiling surface gives clearance for the GU10 lamp and tilt mechanism. Cable entry is through the rear of the base, concealing the wiring run against the ceiling.

The black aluminium body carries a textured powder-coat finish that reduces fingerprint visibility during installation and hides minor surface marks over time. The lamp holder sits within a recessed black baffle ring that reduces glare when viewed from the side. The Class II double-insulated construction means the fitting does not require an earth connection, simplifying installation on older wiring where earth may not be present at the ceiling position. The Oran accepts any GU10 lamp up to 10W, giving control over colour temperature, beam angle and dimming behaviour depending on the lamp chosen.

Does the Oran come with a GU10 bulb?

No. GU10 lamps are sold separately. The fitting accepts any GU10 lamp up to 10W. Most users choose a 5-7W LED GU10 in 3000K or 4000K depending on the room use.

Is it dimmable?

Dimming depends on the GU10 lamp fitted. Pair the Oran with a dimmable GU10 lamp and a compatible dimmer switch to achieve dimming. Non-dimmable GU10 lamps will not dim and may flicker or fail if used with a dimmer.

Can the light direction be adjusted?

Yes. The GU10 lamp holder tilts within the housing, allowing the beam to be angled rather than pointing straight down. The tilt range is approximately 30 degrees from vertical.

What ceiling void depth is needed?

None. The Oran is a surface-mounted fitting designed for ceilings with no void or shallow voids where recessed downlights cannot be installed. The entire fitting sits below the ceiling surface with cable entry through the rear of the base.
