Description
Our opal LED GLS bulb has the rounded, traditional shape most people picture when they think of a household bulb, finished in milky white opal glass. It measures 10.5cm long and 6cm in diameter and has an E27 screw cap, the larger screw cap size used by a great many lamps and ceiling lights. Inside, LEDs draw 7W and give 806lm of warm white light at 2700K, the soft, slightly golden tone that sits comfortably in a home. It is rated IP20, which settles where it goes: indoors, in dry rooms only.
The opal glass hides the LEDs from view, so the light spreads evenly across the whole bulb with no bright points. That makes it a good choice for open pendants, bare bulb holders and lamps where the bulb shows. Use it in living rooms, bedrooms, hallways and dining rooms, anywhere an E27 holder is waiting for a fresh bulb. The warm 2700K suits evenings and relaxed rooms, while 806lm gives a good level of everyday light for a table lamp, a floor lamp or a central pendant. If you are replacing an older bulb and want to keep the classic look, this is the easy swap we would suggest.
The bulb is glass with a silver screw cap, and it runs on 220-240V, 50/60Hz, the standard household mains supply. It is not dimmable, so it belongs in a light on an ordinary on and off switch; on a dimmer circuit it is the wrong choice. Its energy class is D, and it weighs just 0.073KG packed. Before you order, check two things in the fitting: that the holder takes an E27 screw cap, and that the switch is a standard one rather than a dimmer.
